4 weeks

4 weeks . 28800 minutes. Cold classrooms and empty stomach. Starting to get the swing of things again? We've been in school for basically a month and time is just passing. I don't know how i feel about that. I never believed people when they said high school goes by fast. Like, since when was school fast but now i'm a junior and a month in it. I've been very productive, learning how to multitask, have a social life, and attempt to be an athlete. When I say athlete i mean like i was forced to play a sport and they offered me food.  The social life is kind of working. Been hanging out with new people and trying to look into other sports. Multitasking skills has to get a little better though. I thought this year was going to be easy but once i got back my two first test and a BIG 63 popped up on both I knew i needed to do better. Creative Writing may be one of the only things that's going good right now. Being able to write freely and also help peers around you. I remember when i started Creative Writing there were no Creative Writing 2 or 3 students to help it was just Mr.B. I think its better because you get a better perspective when you already know what they're going through. Being able to mentor and seeing so much potential in new writers. I'm really liking this year and I see its going to be one of the best. Excited for every class.

Changes

In high school you go through these phases. It may seem like time just flies by at least to me it does. I wouldn't say though that i go through phases. Going into my junior year of high school a lot has changed. The cliche that you'll lose your close friends is actually true. High school is a big fish tank. There's a bunch of fish trapped in this little box. You don't necessarily come in contact with a fish one day or even a whole semester but eventually you do. Creative writing has allowed me to be able to handle surviving the fish tank. Self esteem issues to the help of Mr.B's great advice. Yeah sometimes i don't want to talk to him but that class has help me discover who I am. I got a little excited when i saw that there was going to be a creative writing 3 class because each year it just help me vent with others around me who would also understand. This year it allows me to choose my own path. I wouldn't really call myself Nemo but maybe more of Dory. There's something in me to help people. I can be forgetful at times and need someone to help me during the journey. Mr.B is great at getting things out of you that you never thought was in you. That's why i feel Creative Writing 3 is going to be great. I have the opportunity to discover myself  on a free individual level. My 9th grade year i took my first Creative writing class. I really didn't know what to expect, i just knew i'd be able to right. I think i took it serious to an extent. It was a very fast pace class and it taught me discipline. My 10th grade i took Creative Writing 2. By then i knew what to expect, i knew which subjects were my favorite, and i knew what i had to grow from. Creative Writing 2 was probably the year i found myself through writing. I had never thought i could write a Fiction story but that was one of my favorite parts. At heart though i'm a poet. My writing had truly grew, i discovered there was more subjects to write about. Subjects that you could go into deeper. I've learned its not bad to be vulnerable, at least around people who would embrace you. Emotions tend to rise in Creative Writing and its good to admit to the emotions you have inside. Therefore, i am truly thankful for the Creative Writing Classes and where it has brought me and will take me.

9/8

When Allison and I first asked Mr. Clinton about adding a Creative Writing III class, I thought he was going to say no. He seems to me like the kind of principal more focused on academic classes than electives. When he asked to see samples of our writing, I was shocked, and I didn't think he was actually going to read the samples we gave him. We gave them to him the next day, and then we didn't hear anything back from him, but when Mr. B asked him about the class, he said that it was going to be added.
I was so happy that I was going to be able to take a Creative Writing class my senior year. When Mr. B started sending out the applications, my excitement doubled.
And now that I'm actually in the class, I'm so glad that we went to Mr. Clinton. It's not like the first two levels, where there are prompts and specific projects for each genre. The third level is all about what each person wants as a writer. For instance, I am planning to focus on fiction, publishing options, and contests.
We're only two weeks in, and I know that this is going to be the best class of my high school career. I can't wait to see what the rest of the semester brings.
